For my elective rotation, I chose to focus on weight loss research and nutrition education. The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center houses James O. Hill Ph. D famously known for co-founding the National Weight Control Registry as well as developing the My New Weigh weight loss plan. Based on his programs, I interned with RDNs who carry out formal behavioral weight management programs involving weekly group meetings for clients and research subjects trying to lose weight. I gained counseling, education, and public relation experience while interning with this state of the art health and wellness center dedicated to evidence-based approaches to weight loss. |
