I discovered my passion for nutrition while working as a counselor at a commercial weight loss center where I witnessed firsthand the effects diet has on health and wellness. The experience served as the catalysis to pursue a degree in dietetics and get involved in the nutrition community. In Spring 2014, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition – Dietetics from Metropolitan State University of Denver and continued to follow the path to becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Sodexo Distance Education Dietetic Internship in Denver, Colorado. Prior to studying dietetics, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an emphasis in Motivational Interviewing. The motivational interviewing techniques help me help you work through your ambivalence to make positive lifestyle changes.
I am a firm believer that an RDN is the ultimate resource for nutrition-related information and I passionately advocate that people only seek out credentialed health professionals with their health-related concerns. My motivation to work as a dietitian is to be that legitimate resource for the public's food and nutrition needs.
The way I see it, you would never trust anyone but a surgeon to perform surgery, so why would you trust anyone but a dietitian to put you on a diet?
